Sam’s Concert

Date: Saturday 24th March, 2012
Location: Southampton

On Saturday 24th March at 7pm, a concert will be held in memory of Samantha Cashen, a 17 year old girl who tragically passed away to a brain tumour in August 2011.

Celebrating her short, but full life, the concert brings together her love of music and dance and will allow the audience a snapshot into all the things she loved.

The concert will include songs, dances and band covers that Sam enjoyed throughout her life. The show is a mixture of genres including ballads, dance and pop. Everything from The Sound of Music, Riverdance, Harry Potter, Adele and songs by Abba will be included, creating a hugely enjoyable and eclectic event.

Also included in the show will be parts of the stage show Annie and pieces of music that Sam danced to such as Lord of the Dance and the Harry Potter theme tune. Part of the concert will be dedicated to other lost friends such as her teachers, Mrs. Hennon and Jackie Griffiths who passed away in the same year.  Most of those taking part are Sam’ s talented friends, who can bring a personal touch to the show.

The concert coincides with Brain Tumour Awareness Month in March.

One thing Sam was noted for was her smile and the way she brought a happy feeling to a room. That is something Sam’s dad Mike  hopes to bring to this event. One of Sam’s favourite sayings was ‘Turn that frown, upside down!’ and this wonderful advice will be at the heart of the concert.
